three of pentacles

Summary

making creativity communal

Hello and welcome to my tiny tarot practice I'm your host Amelia Hruby and this podcast documents my tiny tarot practice.

Today's card is the three of Pentacles in the Rider Waite Smith edition of the tarot the three of Pentacles

has three figures who are all dressed differently and appear to be in some type of

religious space a lot of people who describe it will call it a cathedral and we see in that space a flower on the wall we see three Pentacles we see bricks and an arch and beneath that Arch we have these three people.

Again they're dressed differently seems like one is a monk and then other the.

Interpreters I read say that the others are an architect and a Sculptor.

I really enjoyed looking at different interpretations of this card because there had never been an intuitive read on it for me I was like

cool it some people making stuff together sort of together maybe together we're working on a project that's about as deep as I've ever gone with this card that when I turn to some of my favorite tarot texts.

I love how Jessa Crispin describes it as the building of the cathedral and thinks of it as the beginning of this long arduous process but

the process of creating something that's a container for the divine

and I think that can describe the beginning of so many of our creative Works particularly when we begin a new body of work for really channeling the magic

everywhere embodying the magician and channeling the that Divine Spirit channeling the magic from above to the Earth to the Pentacles to the material.

Then.

It often looks like this card it often looks like kind of being at work looking around trying to make sense of what you're doing you know I think.

It's romantic to always want to be the magician one arm toward the sky one arm toward the ground but at least for me my creative practice often looks much more like this card the three of Pentacles or even will get there shortly the seven or eight of Pentacles.

I also really appreciated Rachel Pollux interpretation of this car door of an aspect of this card and 78 degrees of wisdom where she talks about how the three figures here

and her reading are the monk the architect and the sculptor and they represent water air and Fire

and the way that creating our Earthly works.

Requires the other elements we have to bring them all together to make anything in this material world and I thought that was a really beautiful interpretation and I also like Jessica doors.

Interpretation that the three of Pentacles is.

Quote unquote the third thing and there she's citing citing young that you know one

plus two really becomes the third thing which is separate not simply the addition of the two but I was actually imagining it as that Meme that I see on Twitter all the time which is like not this not that but a.

Thing.

And people there use it to make all sorts of funny jokes but I also think that this card can be about that when we were creating something.

Bringing together this and that but what it makes isn't simply the sum of those things it's not simply that one plus two equals three but then it makes something unique and beautiful in its own right and holy

different from those things where differences sacred and reverence not divisive or exclusionary.

So it was really exciting to.

Read this card and visit this card through all of these different thinkers and to dwell on what it might mean for me.

I'm really enjoying in the process of making this podcast spending time with so many cards in the minor Arcana that perhaps I haven't,

developed personal interpretations for so I think at this stage the three of Pentacles for me

is the process of working on a project that's much bigger than myself or ourselves and it's the reminder that so many things and people have to come together for all of our creative works and it's an invitation to make creative work communal.

If you'd like to reference any of the thinkers or Taro text that I mentioned today you can find them all in the show notes in my book shop there's a link there that will take you to.

A page where I gather all of my favorite tarot books and decks if you make a purchase through that link I will receive a small affiliate payment that helps me keep this podcast going.

Thank you so much for being here today I hope that you're enjoying this journey through the Pentacles through the minor Arcana and that your creativity finds ways to enter Community today.
